During the summer, South African Airways offered flights between US cities and South Africa at special RT prices. The sales period has just been extended until September 30.

You can now fly to Johannesburg and Durban from New York and Washington DC for prices starting at $1,345 RT. The travel period is between Aug 20 and Oct 29. Flights to Cape Town and Dakar from the same US cities are available at prices starting at $1,160 for flights between Aug 20 and Oct 29 and $1,300 for flights between Oct 30 and Nov 30.

The prices include the fuel surcharges but exclude the government taxes. For more details check out the SAA offer here.
