We can probably chalk part of this up to a currently semi-favorable exchange rate for the US dollar compared to the euro, but whatever it is, hotels in Paris are actually pretty affordable this spring and summer. I just found this nice deal on Expedia for one of several hotels in Paris for US$98 per night. This is a 3-star hotel that is highly rated, is right across from the Metro station, and even includes free Wi-Fi.

Admittedly, it’s a bit south of most of the famous attractions, but it’s also half the price of a similar hotel in the center of the city. In case you haven’t been to Paris before, you’ll be happy to know that there really is no “best” neighborhood to stay in, regardless of what you have in mind for sightseeing. There are Metro stations every few blocks (no joke!) and even from this hotel you could be at the Eiffel Tower in like 15 minutes.

But still, if you have a specific part of town in mind there are good deals available, though they may not be this cheap and 3-stars. For example, you can find plenty of hotels near the Louvre, starting at prices around US$150 per night. If your budget is even lower than that, you should check out the hostels near Montemarte, since they have beds in dorm rooms starting around US$25 per night, and private rooms starting around US$60 per night.
