If you’ve been to Amsterdam you probably remember this place because it has one of the best locations in the entire city. Right now, Travelocity is advertising rooms at the NH Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky starting at $146 per night. This is the grand-looking 4-star hotel that overlooks Dam Square, facing the Royal Palace. If you get a room in the front, you’ll have the best view in the city.

Sure, the name is hard to pronounce, but still this is one of the fanciest hotels in the city, to the point that they probably wouldn’t even let me in the lobby, much less book a room there. I’m kidding about that part, but it’s really the kind of place that celebrities probably stay in when in Amsterdam. Me, I’m on a lower budget so I usually stay at the Winston Hostel, which is one of the many Red Light District hostels in Amsterdam. The Winston, which now goes by the name St. Christopher’s at the Winston, is actually just down the block from this place, so I’ve passed it dozens of times.

Some people going to Amsterdam’s coffee shops might be interested in knowing that the smoking laws there have changed things. The Winston is actually one of the smoker hostels in Amsterdam, though only in the patio area, so you really have to be careful these days.
