This deal is so amazing that my hands are shaking as I type this, but it’s a real offer, at least for now. Greyhound has a new “premium” bus service that runs between New York City and Toronto every day leaving each city at 8:45am and arriving in the other 9 hours and 40 minutes later. It appears these buses have free wifi, free in-seat video (if you bring your own headphones), and power plugs so you can plug in your laptop or whatever else.

This is the new NEon service and for now seats are as low as $1 each way. I was skeptical of this because in Europe airlines offer fares starting at €1, and they tend to be like €40 or more by the time you add in all the taxes and fees. So I entered sample dates leaving October 15 and returning to NYC on October 22, and the “6-day advance nonrefundable fare” it charged me was $2 round trip. It said it only had one seat left at that price, so it’s fairly obvious that they only sell the first few seats on each bus at this price, but still, a luxury bus between two great cities for $1 each way? If I lived in either one I’d definitely scan the schedule to find dates that might work, and then even if I can’t actually go at that time I’m only out $2. Amazing!
