Iberia is offering sale fares between some U.S. cities and some European cities this summer, with prices starting at just $690 round trip (and that includes taxes and fees, thankyouverymuch). The departure cities are Boston, Washington D.C., Chicago and New York, and the European cities include Amsterdam, Barcelona, Paris, Lisbon, and Venice.

If you live in Boston or Washington D.C., you’ll want to jump on this deal immediately – your tickets must be booked by May 31 (that’s Saturday, folks). But if you live in Chicago or New York, you’ve got a little more time to play with, because your tickets must be booked by August 31.

Here are more of the deal details:

• Trips from Boston or Washington D.C. must include a Sunday-night stay, and the maximum stay is 30 days.
• Boston and Washington D.C. departures must take place between June 1 and July 31.
• Trips from Chicago or New York must be at least three days, and the maximum stay is two months.
• Chicago and New York departures must take place before September 6.

I can’t help but think, as I look at the rules for trips from Chicago or New York, that anyone who even contemplates staying in Europe for less than three days is nuts.
