Through June 30, 2008, Singapore Airlines is offering roundtrip airfare from Houston to Moscow for US$777, which is cheaper than a fare to London or Paris at the moment. If you are frustrated by the insane ticket prices currently this weird special on an airline you’d never expect to find it on might be just the thing. Moscow isn’t exactly cheap once you get there, but it’s fascinating and can be done on a reasonable budget so this could be an affordable alternative to the more common trip ideas most of us usually consider.

Singapore Airlines has several other interesting specials, but none that really jump off the page like those cheap Moscow flights. Also, if you fly on Singapore and connect in their home in Asia you can get a free stopover, like on IcelandAir. This is especially nice because, like Iceland, Singapore is fairly small and can be seen in just a few days, so a stopover can really make for an ideal trip bonus as part of a larger vacation.
