Expedia’s Summer Sale claims to save you up to 30% on hotels, cruises and activities in the Caribbean, plus a number of other destinations.

• “Offer applies only at featured participating hotels in select destinations”
• “Discount is based on length of stay and will be subtracted from the price of the hotel or the hotel component of any flight+hotel vacation package at the time of booking”
• “Offers vary by hotel, are subject to availability, and may be discontinued without notice. Additional restrictions and blackout dates may apply.”

Now, I’m always skeptical when it comes to these “save up to…” types of deals. Save compared to what, high season rates? That’s not a deal if you ask me - it just reminds me of the price tags at discount stores that say “comparable to” and list a price they think you might pay at a higher priced store.

Now, I’m not saying this isn’t a deal but I’m AM saying to do your research, by say comparing the price through another major online travel agency such as Travelocity or Orbitz, which is something we generally recommend anyway to find the cheapest hotel rates.
