City Break: Philadelphia
Each time I hear someone mention Philadelphia, I immediately think of Bruce Springsteen’s song and the images which appear in the video.
It is a beautiful city and there are plenty of things to do in Philadelphia . If you head over here for a city break vacation, you’ll get to experience both history and the hustle and bustle of a large city. Plan to visit the historical part of the city and then relax in the park. Also, you can do some shopping and even take a tour of the city. The guys will love the sports scene: between a NBA team, a NFL team, a NHL team, a baseball and several soccer teams…there’s a lot to see and cheer for! There are quite a lot of events take place year-round in the city as well.
If you travel with the kids, make sure to visit the zoo. It is America’s first zoo and is home to just about every animal one could ever ask to see. Of course, make sure to visit the Liberty Bell Center. It is the most interactive history museum in America.
Before packing, make sure to look for one of the flights to Philadelphia . Avoid flying on Friday or Saturdays if you plan to save some money. Then look for cheap hotels in Philadelphia . Ideally, plan to stay close to the major sites and where the action is.
No vacation in Philly is complete without experiencing the local cuisine. Try the cheesesteak, Philly’s most famous homegrown food, which is a sandwich made of a fresh roll filled with grilled shaved beef and cheese. Another famous snack is the salted soft pretzel. If you look for comfort food, then try scrapple. It is made from pork by-products and cornmeal, cooked into a thick pudding, formed into a loaf, sliced, and fried.
