Today’s deal marks two in a row for writing about business class fares for me, and I think today’s offer trumps yesterday’s. Although I think there’s a coolness factor that comes with flying on Virgin Atlantic – especially in business class – today’s deal from Continental offers better prices and more European destinations to choose from.

With fares starting at $1,598 for a round-trip ticket from Newark, NJ to Manchester, England, even if you’re not normally a business class flyer you may reconsider. I mean, that’s about what I’ve paid in the past for summer trips to Europe flying coach, for pete’s sake. Some of the other sample fares are:

• $1,798 from Newark, NJ to Brussels, Belgium
• $1,998 from Houston, TX to London, England
• $2,198 from Cleveland, OH to Paris, France
• $2,198 from Houston, TX to Amsterdam, Netherlands

There’s no date by which you need to buy these tickets, but there are some rules and restrictions. Some of the more important ones to know are:

• The best deals require a 30-day advance purchase, but there are good discounts on 14-day advance purchases, too.
• Travel must begin between June 29-August 29, and must end by September 5.
• A Saturday-night stay is required, and you must stay at least seven days.
• Prices quoted do not include some fees and taxes, as usual.
• The prices listed on the Continental website are one-way, so don’t get too excited until you double that fare (the prices listed above are round-trip).
