I’ve come to realize that waiting to book your vacation right before you plan to leave does have some advantages. Of course, that’s if you are adventurous enough to not care exactly where you’d end up. But Budget Travel has pleasantly surprised me with a lovely offer for vacations in Greece right in the middle of the high season. And you can still book them!

If you plan to stay in Corfu or Create, there is plenty of accommodation to choose from. Departure is from Dublin and the flights (RT) are included in the vacation price. The site says you’d be paying €549 per person for a week in one of the studios they offer. If you go through the booking process you’ll notice that the basic adult price is €482 per person and you get a discount of €5 per person for booking online but also you’ll pay €10.00 for each flight because you want to say near your spouse in the plane (of course you do!), €27.00 airport taxes per person, €25 fuel surcharge for a person and….€15 per person late booking fee! Adding things together you’ll pay €554 per person. So not too bad!

• Aug 10: Crete

The price for a 2 weeks vacation, including airfare , is slightly higher: €599 per person but totally worth it if you have that many days off to enjoy it!
