As someone who used to live in New York City, and who follows the crazy hotel prices there pretty closely, I still can’t get over how cheap everything is this summer. Here’s a fantastic deal on Travelzoo (with a special discount code) on a new Holiday Inn on 6th Avenue in Midtown for $129 per night, including a $20 breakfast voucher each day!

Even without having been to this hotel, I can guarantee that the rooms are small, and that’s the case at every other hotel in Manhattan as well so you have to adjust your expectations before you get there. But I’m also quite sure that it’s nice and professionally run. Holiday Inns all have to exceed certain standards in order to be part of the chain, since if they allowed rundown ones to have this name it would ruin their whole reputation. It’s also a new hotel, so you shouldn’t have to worry about paint coming off the walls or broken elevators and such.

This hotel is on 6th Avenue at 26th Street, which is a prime location that is usually considered part of Chelsea. As I say to anyone who’ll listen, this is a much better area than Times Square, since the nearby businesses aren’t all there just to fleece unsuspecting tourists who’ll never be back. There are plenty of other good New York hotels in Chelsea, and hotels near Union Square (just south of Chelsea) and some are even cheaper, though probably not as good of a deal while this promotion goes on. This deal is good 7 days a week from June 28 to September 7, so you can even get it on a summer weekend if you hurry.
