AirTran announces yet another good fare sale
Orlando, Florida-based AirTran Airlines seems to be very aggressive with their fare sale deals this summer, and a new one just announced offers one-way tickets starting at $49. One thing that makes these particularly appealing is they don’t require a roundtrip purchase, unlike most other airlines. So those with a bit of time off this summer could potentially make up their own multi-stop route, combining 3 or 4 flights all for around $300 or so.
Of course there are a few extra taxes and fees, but they don’t add up to enough to really kill these deals. The worst part might be that the best fares are only available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but again, those with a flexible schedule can really fly around cheaply this summer, which is pretty amazing under current circumstances.
Some fine print:
* Book your tickets by July 1, 2008, 11:59 pm ET.
* Travel through November 5, 2008.
* 10-day advance purchase required.
* Lowest sale fares are valid for travel on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Additional sale fares are valid for travel on other days of the week.
* Blackout dates are as follows: June 27-29, 2008; and July 3, 6-7, 2008.
Most of the fares seem to max out at $159, so you can fly one-way from New York City to Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, or Seattle for $159 plus about $20 in taxes. Not bad really.
